Kaolin Dry Crushing Process

Primary crushing reduces material size from as much as one meter to a few centimeters in diameter and typically is accomplished using jaw or gyratory crushers. Rotating pan crushers, cone crushers, smooth roll crushers, and hammer mills are used for secondary crushing, which further reduces particle size to 3 mm or less. For some applications, tertiary size reduction is necessary and is accomplished by means of impact crusher and cone crushers, which are often combined with air separators.

In kaolin production line, for most applications, kaolin materials are processed by mechanical methods, such as crushing, grinding, and screening. Kaolin crushing is generally processed in three stages: primary crushing, secondary crushing and tertiary crushing.

Kaolin crushing can be operated in both dry and wet process. The dry crushing process is simpler and higher energy consumption, and produces a lower quality product than the wet process. Dry processed kaolin is used mainly in the rubber industry, and to a lesser extent, for paper filling and to produce fiberglass and sanitary ware. In the kaolin dry crushing line, the raw material is crushed to the desired size in different crushing steps, dried in rotary dryers, pulverized and air floated to remove most of the coarse particle size.
